Monad Foundation Announces Support for $200,000 AI Agent Hackathon as Autonomous Systems Market Grows
Two-Week Sprint Targets Autonomous Agents Built for Speed and Scale on High-Performance L1, Backed by Paradigm and Agora
NEW YORK – February 2, 2026 – The Monad Foundation, a team supporting the growth of the high-throughput, EVM-compatible Monad network, today announced support for the Moltiverse Hackathon, a 52.62 billion market by 2030, up from $7.84 billion in 2025.
AI agents are increasingly capable of operating continuously, coordinating across applications, and executing complex workflows without human intervention. As this shift accelerates, developers face new infrastructure demands, including high transaction throughput, low latency, and the ability to process frequent state updates at scale. The Moltiverse Hackathon is designed to support builders developing these systems and provides a platform to build and showcase production-ready autonomous applications.
The hackathon addresses infrastructure requirements emerging alongside enterprise adoption of AI agents. As organizations begin integrating task-specific agents into production workflows, these systems are evolving beyond simple chatbots into applications capable of complex reasoning and multi-step execution. This shift places increasing demands on underlying infrastructure, particularly around throughput, latency, and continuous state updates at scale.
“AI agents are moving from research concepts to systems that need to operate reliably in live environments,” said Keone Hon, GM and Co-Founder of the Monad Foundation. “These applications place fundamentally different demands on infrastructure. Monad was built to support high-throughput, low-latency workloads and is well-suited for the next generation of autonomous, agent-driven applications.”
Hackathon Structure and Prize Pool
The Moltiverse Hackathon features a $200,000 total prize pool across two tracks designed to support both technical experimentation and real-world validation.
One track invites builders to launch autonomous agents alongside tokens. This introduces a market-driven mechanism that allows communities to engage with and signal conviction in agent performance beyond traditional judging alone. A second, agent-only track focuses on pure agent development without token requirements and ensures accessibility for a broad range of teams and use cases.
Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis. Winners are highlighted throughout the competition period to give standout projects early visibility while developer attention on AI agents remains high. Projects will be evaluated by a panel including representatives from Dragonfly, Paradigm, and Agora, bringing technical and investment perspectives to the selection process.
Areas of Focus
Builders are encouraged to explore a wide range of agent-driven applications, including but not limited to:
- Multi-agent simulations and world models
- Gaming and interactive agents with economic incentives
- Agent-to-agent commerce and coordination systems
- Robotics, IoT, and hardware-linked agents
- Open-ended experimentation across DeFi, social, and emerging use cases
How to Participate
The Moltiverse Hackathon runs from February 2 to 15, 2026, with full winners announced on February 18. Developers can submit projects throughout the competition period, with select winners announced on a rolling basis.
